180sx: Interior tune
I oddly ended up not really feeling it as it was too loud and stood out too much on the silver exterior of the car.
I think I liked it on the s14 since the car was red so it blended in better where this sort of stuck out like a sore thumb and the exterior of the car was too subtle to make it work in my opinion. I still had my black Zeta 3 and managed to find an ergo locally. Bonus points for all black to match the Zeta 3. I have a Zeta 2 coming since I thought the 3 looks a bit new in the 180 but I do find the 3 more comfortable and better built so I'm in a little bit of a dilemma. I'll swap it in and compare when it comes. I got some grey chequered mats to suit too. I just need to get a silver handbrake button. For gauges I kept it simple with a dual pillar pod instead of my usual defi array on the dash. I'm running a haltech can gauge on the top and defi racer on the bottom for boost since who doesn't love watching a dancing boost gauge. As it's a street car I wanted to ensure it had a good sound system. I used Kenwood KFC-XH170C component splits in the front. I fitted the crossover to the door card pocket as I've installed it inside the door itself in the past and it rusted out the crossover killing it. I sound deadened the doors too but I don't feel like this made much difference lol. I'm also running a sub and amp so I needed to make a false floor to support it. I just need to make two holes for bolting it down to where the child seat anchors go. The car also didn't come with a boot mat it had some poorly cut random carpet so instead of paying too much for a crusty 30 year old one I bought a nice new chequered one from fitmint to suit the floor mats. Amp mocked up. I tried to use the 10" subwoofer I had but I found in a sealed box it just wasn't able to provide enough SPL when the car starts travelling on the freeway as the road noise etc starts to drown it out and kill the bass. Anyways that's the interior update for now. I have some small things to do like track down a replacement pillar handle or find someone who'll sell me just the end cap I'm missing along with fixing the wobbly rear view mirror. I want to get the dash cracks fixed too maybe when I pull it out to replace the current alarm.
