End of an Era. Goodbye s14

I made the difficult decision to sell the s14 the other month. I've had the car for a decade during which I've made a lot of friends, learnt a lot of things and had a lot of memorable experiences all thanks to the s14.

This idea had crossed my mind a lot lately for different reasons. I rarely drove the car on the street anymore, for the past few years most of the time it was only driven on track and whenever I'd drive it on the street there would always be something about the car that would annoy me a little making the drive less enjoyable.
One of the main annoyances towards the end was NVH and this was due to me taking things too far with the car. The hardrace engine mounts gave me random rattles and vibrations from behind the dash and around the steering column which quickly got annoying during drives. The CD009 is a noisy gearbox and the Nismo Twinplate despite being dampened wasn't enough to quieten it down to a comfortable level on the street. The drum handbrake cables rubbed on the tailshaft too since it's so thicc. The CD009 itself too would scrape since it hangs below the rails and the car was low. Why did I even go CD009 in the first place? Well I'd managed to destroy two rb25 gearboxes and they were no longer $1k from a guy you'd meet in a shady street so I wanted to go with a bulletproof solution. It honestly was a great setup, but I ran my car too low and was getting too old for extra noises in my street car.

E85 was also getting annoying especially since I rarely drove the car and moved to an area where it was no longer easily accessible/on the way to wherever I'd be driving to. Due to me rarely driving the car it would drive a bit rough till I topped up and I also no longer had the VF Wagon which conveniently could run on old e85 I'd drain out the s14.

A few years ago too I had removed the aircon system from the car while swapping in the built motor. I honestly had missed this more than I thought I would for a street car so if you're thinking of removing it on your street car don't! Or if you do keep all the gear in a box don't throw it out like me thinking you'll never need it again lol.

It might sound silly but I didn't want to demod the car or "go backwards" in my mind along with spending more money and time to do this which ties back in with the aircon thing because I went hunting for aircon parts and it was a lot of money.

Now the big main reason why I decided to sell the s14 was I caught up with my mate and was chatting about how I missed my old 180 and he said he'd be happy to sell it back to me since he hasn't driven it since covid hit and it's just taking up space in his parents garage.
More on the 180 and the reasoning in a future post which I promise to write shortly after this one goes live. In short one night I decided to bite the bullet and list the S14 as a shell and ended up selling it to one of my friends I've known for as long as I've been into cars.

Deposit taken, time to start stripping the car. Yuta questioning me like everyone else.
The ARC FMIC came with the s14 when I bought it and I've kept it to run on the 180. I'll be trying to use some memorable pieces off the s14 where I can on the 180.
Josh helped to yank the motor and almost died in the process.
In storage they go for a rainy day but hopefully won't need to be using either any time soon.
Been a few years since I've seen the car on VS-KF's. I sold the car as a non rolling shell so my mate brought parts to have the car rolling for pickup.
Sad moments.
Final goodbye to the car. It was quite sad but I'm also keen to see how it looks in the future.
Garage missing a piece just like my heart.
At the time of writing this I've already got the 180 in my possession and have started quite a bit of work on it. Just trying to push myself to get prequel posts out so I can start pushing update posts in a timely order.
