AE86 Shakedown at Primal Motorkhana
I hadn't really tried sliding the 86 since building it so I figured what better event to shake it down at than Primal's Motorkhana. Better than paying for Calder entry to discover that I really suck and can't link corners in the car.
Quick stop for fuel on the way to the pre meet location. Still in love with the new look. I put the grill back in for the long drive to avoid the foglights getting damaged from road debris. Choose your fighter.

I must admit, the GR86 looks like a perfect all rounder within a reasonable budget that allows you to have some fun at the track and cruise home comfortably stopping off at Coles for some groceries. I had a lot of fun trying to drift the 86. It's quite different to the s14 which has over 3x the power and knuckles so there was quite a lot of driving style adjustments to make. I just wish there was a bit more space for more speed but it was a motorkhana not a skidpan so beggars can't be choosers.
Steering wise it's a manual steering rack with non-ps knuckles and rack spacers (hardrace tie rods with inbuilt rack spacer). I'll be making my own modified knuckle in the near future and extending the LCAs then taking the car out to Calder. Anyways some more video/photo spam below. The nice photos are courtesy of Gwyn. I hope you enjoyed!
