Josh’s s15 pt2: intake + turbo outlet

Next up was to fabricate a new intake. Decided to make it out of pie because I wasn’t sure what bends were needed and aluminium cuts like butter in the bandsaw.

I used 30 and 45 degree pie sections. Compared to the old intake which I believe is a simota. Interested to see if there’s a sound difference in dose.

Been quite awhile since I’ve welded aluminium. Forgot how hot the whole work piece gets.

Hey presto. Tried to be quick but still spent hours making this.

Whipped up a quick bracket too since z32’s will die from vibration/banging.

I also wired up the z32 connector too which was pretty straight forward.

Next task was to fab a new turbo outlet as the clearance on the stock one was a bit too close for comfort lol.

I used a generic turbo outlet and ground off the bead so I could weld straights and an elbow to it.

I used a donut for the elbow and whipped up a quick template to make it easier to mark for cutting. CAD is so handy.

Would be cool if you could buy pre cut donuts.

Finally made a bracket for my bead roller too since my vice was too wide the handle wouldn’t clear it.

Nice and easy.

Been practicing controlling amps with the foot pedal lately. Should’ve tried this much much earlier in my fabrication journey.

All done.

All mounted up. Heaps more clearance now. Bonus that it has a vacuum port too that you can hook up to your ebc instead of running a hose all the way from the cold side.

I made brackets and reworked the heat shield material that Josh had in there temporarily. Joiner should be safe now.

Tidier. Keen to hear how it sounds!
