JZX Exhaust

I decided to make a new exhaust for the jzx as in doing a turbo upgrade etc soon and the exhaust that came with the car was a bit beat up along with a jasma muffler which might’ve restricted me.
I also decided to make it in the garage on jackstands. I’ve also decided to never make another exhaust on jackstands again as it was a giant pain in the ass.

It took me about an hour to get the car onto the four stands after some head scratching. I really need a bigger garage.
Pulled the old exhaust off. Looks like a modified Japanese system.
Looks like it was due for replacement anyways.
Now to start the new system. Created a 30 degree pie section to help with clearance due to a slightly tighter radius.
Ended up adding a 5 degree to the end as it was flicking into the floor pan.
Mocked the next bend to see how it would all fit.

Used an old 2 bolt flange to help stop the new one warping.
In hindsight I could’ve probably hugged the floor pan a bit more.
Figured I should weld the o2 bung before it gets too long.
Welded the next bend and tacked the next section
Figured now would be a good time to hang the muffler too. Cut and welded a hanger since it would be easier than bending it
Ensured the bottom of the rubber hangers pulled inwards to help keep it centred and from swinging around.
Mocking up the Varex
Mocked up the rest of the system too
I welded up the v band flanges. Getting a lot better with these.
Reusing the ti tip. Luckily it fit perfectly.
First half welded up. Had to get crafty with my lack of space.
Almost all done here.

Just had to weld up the hangers too.
And all done. I’ll update with more photos just haven’t had time to take the car out during the day.
Realised I don’t have a photo of the car on this blog
