Breen's Bday Bash!
So this is a pretty well overdue post that I was meant to write months ago and only just remembered about it when I went to make a new post and saw this drafted.
Back in July, Breen was holding a birthday bash at Wilby for his dirty 30th. It'd been over a year since the last time I drove this track so I was pretty keen especially because it was going to be the full track and my skills had improved a bit since the last time.
Met up along the way with Bry, Jen and Karl as usual.
I randomly bumped into a mate's old car too. I should try find an EF wagon too for a daily.
Anyways, after a few hours of driving we made it up there. Wilby's located around the border of NSW making it a touch further than Winton. Sucks that these tracks couldn't be closer :(
Quickly unloaded the car and switched to the Model 5's. My main goal was to avoid too many off-road adventures since it's a bit of a rough track to come off on.
Karl successfully unloaded his wagon which was quite intense to watch.
Birthday boy and Matt Russell were ready too.
The Primal S13.5 is such a cool sounding car but unfortunately it lunched another CA on the day
Bevin's rad JZX90
Choonga with his loaner R32. Think the brakes were stuck on from memory so he was troubleshooting.
I went out for some laps. Took it easy at the start till I got the hang of it again.
Caity was nice enough to cook us lunch which was much appreciated.
We had a tyre changer for the day too so I took my first crack at changing a pair. Apparently 18's are a bit difficult to fit up which rang true for me as I spent nearly an hour on a pair.
My victory didn't last long though as I noticed the car felt a little down on power on the main sweeper and that it wasn't making much boost. I pulled back into the pits checking for boost leaks when I noticed it sounded extra tractory than usual which spells exhaust leak.
Stuck my hand down next to the turbo while revving and felt a leak which confirmed this. I managed to blow the turbo to manifold gasket presumably from a combination of coming off the track pretty hard a few times and my exhaust not being entirely secure due to a few mismatch components.
Bit of a bummer but luckily nothing major. Went for a passenger lap in Bry's car instead where we had an offroad excursion resulting in the consumption of earth minerals. I was in the same boat with a dirt caked interior with my many mishaps.
With the day wrapped up we headed back to the accom to get ready to head out to birthday dinner. The view from the place we stayed at was pretty nice. DC on the lakes from memory is the name.
That wraps up this post, I'll try to post more content more regularly. I'll have much more cool content shortly as I'm heading off to Japan where I'll be drifting Nikko Circuit so stay tuned!
